so this is my first "offical" (at least i think) book review of none other than the devil wears prada by Lauren Weisberger to say that i was excited doesn't even come close as to how badly I wanted to read this book and i'm dying to see the movie
but i'm very dissapointed to say that i wasn't that big of a fan of the book i mean don't get me wrong it was still quite good, it had lots of funny "i can so relate" moments, but i was just lacking or mabye it was the fact that i had such high hopes or my constant comparison to Sophie Kinsella's series of Shop~a~holic books which just blew me away and i can re-read over and over and still laugh out loud each time.
mabye it's the fact that i can't see why the lead character would stay in that job so long when her boss is such a bitch and how she completely wraps herself in her job and forgets about her family, boyfriend and best friend, when she totally hates it! i dunno there was just something missing
i'm still stoked to see the movie though as i've heard that miss meryl streep puts on an amazing performance and what girl wouldn't love a movie with flashy clothes, gorgeous shoes and beautiful people?
so out of 5 possible stars i'm giving this book a 2 1/2
i almost wish i would've read the book after seeing the movie now.........

that IS disappointing. I saw the previews for the movie and I'm so excited to get a bunch of gals together to go see it.
I don't like Anne Hathaway all that much though. Glenn Close rocks.
sadie lou - i know! and i so agree on the anne hathaway thing, i'm not big on her either and sweetie it's not glen close it's meryl streep
I read the book. I agree, why let a crappy you job you hate, ruin all the good things in your life ??? That pissed me off.
mcblogger - welcome back! how was teh trip....i'll have to stop over. it was very annoying that as much as she hated her job she stayed, i guess though when you have something in mind and to accomplish you would probably put up with anything for a year....but i just can't see myself putting up with that kinda crap, i think her character was just sort of swept up into it all and then you throw in the designer clothes and shoes i probably would've ended up the same as her!
I'll take your word on the book and movie - did anything blow up? Were there chase scenes?
barry, ummm can't say that there were any chase scenes or that anything blew up.....sorry! but there are lots of funny moments, just not really ones that a man could relate too
guess you better skip this one completely, unless you have a secret hidden fetish for fashion! which com'on now it's ok to admit it i won't tell anyone!!!
Thanks for the review. The movie looks good and I really like Anne Hathaway for some strange reason. You might like The Nanny Diaries, which I did a review on a few months ago (link on my sidebar). The stories sound similar.
wc - thanks! i'll have to check out that book, sounds good
bridg - ha ha you crack me up! but you make some very good points there
laurie - thanks girl! I still haven't started the new position yet but hopefully in the next 2 weeks i'm very eager/anxious to tackle my new job
